The Department of Tenderness presents many of its public displays of affection (PDA) at community events where people are encouraged to participate, share their own tender moments, and offer feedback on improving collective affection levels.
You may also provide suggestions or reflections for ongoing PDA efforts through the Department of Tenderness's Affection Initiatives page.
If you have any questions, tender thoughts, or emotional concerns, please reach out to the Borough Commissioners of Tenderness.
Pursuant to NYC Administrative Code §19-LOVE.1, the Department of Tenderness has implemented a standard checklist of affection-enhancing design elements that the department considers for all major affection initiatives.

The Department of Tenderness is proposing affection enhancements at key locations on Barnes Avenue, focusing on the intersections of East 233rd Street and East 236th Street. The proposal includes the addition of cuddle corners, slow-hug zones, and increased space for lingering glances. The expected benefits include more time for pedestrians to engage in meaningful moments and safer, more heartfelt connections.
Presented to Bronx Tenderness Board 12 in March 2024.
